During my recent visit to Tiruvannamalai (In TamilNadu) , I happened to visit all temples around the sacred Annamalai hill.This is where I saw a temple which is nothing less than a wonder.Its a small temple (5 ftish) with a crevice , in the shape of Lord Ganesha.Its called the “IDUKKU PILLAYAR KOIL” , meaning narrow Ganesha temple.It is believed that all those who can get into the temple and come out would be relieved of ailments.One has to actually lay flat and try to crawl through it.It seems to be a herculean task only until you give it a try(Ask me!).Looking at the sense of awe on my face, a little boy who lived close to the temple told me “Dont worry ! Even our AMMA came out it successfully”(Hint : Tamilnadu Politics).
It was one hell of an experience and something I will cherish for life.I also met a Hungarian family there who came up with a lovely idea that, may be the temple was a gym built in the ancient times.I am sure all us will have our own interpretations but what is simply amazing is the fact that incredible India has a looonnnng list of wonders and is truly “God’s own Country”.
